If you are craving Raising Cane's crispy chicken tenders then there is a dupe for Sydneysiders! Pappa Flock is a fast food chain serving chicken tenders that is said to be a very close dupe of the American chain Raising Cane's. Find out what it is like!
Pappa Flock's first store opened in Parramatta in mid 2023. Currently there are stores in Parramatta, Westfield Miranda, Frenchs Forest, Casula and Westfield Eastgardens. The found and chef is Eddie Cofie who has worked in food for cruise lines and in the airline industry nad hotels for decades. We actually got ours delivered from the Eastgardens store to our house as we were having a busy day.
We start with two new menu items: there is a frozen mango passion fruit lemonade as well as a frozen lemonade. These are very sweet but good and a nice alternative to regular soft drinks.
We also have an order for half a dozen fried chicken tenders. There are packs with 15, 25 and 50 and these are better priced than buying them individually. The chicken is tender and the breading is crunchy although I think these would be even better eaten in the store. The chicken that they use is fresh and free range that is also halal certified. I did wish that the chicken tenders themselves had a bit more seasoning to them but they are good dipped in the sauces.
In fact I felt like the sauces were their strength. The Pappa Flock sauce is a honey mustard sauce that is a real all purpose sauce-the sauce isn't like the Raising Cane's sauce which is mayonnaise, ketchup and Worcestershire based. The spicy mango habanero has a nice lingering habanero kick to it. It's sweet too so it has that nice sweet and spiciness to it and you can taste the distinct habanero flavour. The ranch sauce is also good as is the smoked hickory BBQ. They're well priced enough so that you can get one of each sauce.
The fries have a spiced salt on them and they are moreish indeed. I also like dipping these into the sauces.
Mr NQN and I both enjoy the burrito wrap with chicken tenders, cheese, lettuce, fresh tomato salsa and Pappa Flock signature sauce. You can also add on items like bacon, pickles and coleslaw but I liked the amount of fresh salad in this to balance the chicken and there was just the right amount of sauce.
The crispy chicken salad is made up of chopped fried chicken tenders, kale slaw, cranberries, seasoned pepita seed mix with a honey mustard dressing. It's nice although I think I would have loved to have added the dressing on myself so that the chicken would be hot and crispy.
So tell me Dear Reader, is there a food or brand that you miss from overseas?
NQN received the delivery from Pappa Flock but all opinions remain her own.
