Cocktail Hour: Chocolate Espresso Martini

Chocolate Espresso Martini

This Chocolate Espresso Martini cocktail drink is an absolutely delicious twist on an espresso martini. A Chocolate Espresso Martini is made with just 3 ingredients in less than 5 minutes. We use vanilla vodka, espresso and Creme de Cacao and that's it! You may even like this more than a regular Espresso Martini!

Normally Dear Reader, I would not advocate buying a whole new bottle of liqueur for anything. I mean there are some spirits and liqueurs you just have on hand (vodka, gin, Baileys, Grand Marnier, brandy) for cooking or for cocktail making but Creme de Cacao? What even is that? But once I tried it, I liked it so much that I now make all my espresso martinis like this. The chocolate doesn't give it an overly sweet flavour or an overly chocolatey flavour. To me it really enhances the flavour of the espresso as does the vanilla vodka. It's a perfect Valentines Day drink too!

Tips For Making Chocolate Espresso Martini

Chocolate Espresso Martini

1 - All you need is freshly brewed espresso but let it cool off first. I find that I don't get a nice head of foam unless the coffee is chilled. The other two ingredients are Vanilla Vodka and Creme de Cacao.

2 - Make sure to add plenty of ice to the shaker and shake it for at least 30 seconds to get a thick head of foam!

3 - You can sieve some cocoa powder on top and add some coffee beans or leave as is.

4 - If you want a classic Espresso Martini without the chocolate try my Espresso Martini recipe here

I'll be making these Chocolate Espresso Martinis on Valentines Day tonight. I actually have a big work day from early until dinner time on Valentines Day and I know that I'll return home exhausted and in need for a pick me up. That's the problem with having Valentines Day on a Friday. In fact we are having our Valentines Day dinner on the weekend instead. Mr NQN isn't really responsible enough to pick a restaurant for Valentines Day because I am so particular. In fact he doesn't even really know when Valentines day is.

The reason I know this is because I said to him a few weeks ago, "I've changed dinner with Valentina to the 17th of January."

"Oh good, so we're having dinner at the sailing club for Valentines Day?" he said.

"That's not Valentines Day!" I exclaimed. Sigh...

So tell me Dear Reader, have you ever tried a chocolate espresso martini? And do you know when Valentines day is?
