The BEST Homemade Ginger Shots!

Ginger Shots

I am absolutely addicted to these healthy ginger shots. I've tried every brand available and honestly none compared to how potent, balanced and delicious this drink is! It takes less than 5 minutes and is perfect in the Thermomix or high speed blender. It has the goodness of fresh ginger, lemon juice, coconut water, honey, apple cider vinegar and turmeric.

I wanted to make my own healthy ginger shots because they are so expensive to buy by the bottle. Also currently fresh ginger is inexpensive so you can make enough ginger shots to last 4-5 days for a fraction of the cost. A 100ml/3.5oz shot usually costs around $3.50 at the supermarket or more at a health food smoothie cafe so making your own will save you a lot of money. Honestly I found the lemons were the most expensive thing in this shot!

Ginger shots are popular because they are said to:

Ginger Shots

*Boost immunity

*Aid digestion

*Reduce inflammation

*Increase energy

*Promote detoxification

Tips For Making Ginger Shots

1 - Look for smooth pieces of ginger, they are easier to peel the skin from.

2 - Try to use fresh lemons for making ginger shots.

3 - Some ginger shots use artificial sweetener which I hate the taste of so I prefer to use honey but use any sweetener that you like.

4 - Placing the mixture in a high powdered blender or Thermomix for 30 seconds gives you a very finely blended ginger that is easy to sieve.

5 - I make a big bottle of ginger shots every 4-5 days and make more as soon as I run out. I also sometimes add it to chilled soda water for a super refreshing dry ginger lemonade.

Ginger Shots

While I don't do new years resolutions and don't start a particular eating regime at the beginning of the year, I have really taken to making these ginger shots. It actually started just after Christmas when we were eating a lot of rich food and has gone through New Years and into 2025. For NYE this year we did a bit of a hers and his NYE. Mr NQN knows that I like to do things while he would rather see in the new year by relaxing at home, maybe sleeping or playing chess. So that afternoon we went out to a dessert bar in the city for lunch which was a "me" activity.

Then we went home after collecting some groceries from the store which was a Mr NQN activity. We ate sushi and hwachae and I made a dry ginger lemonade by adding these ginger shots to sparkling water. It was all very sedate. By the time 9pm rolled around we were all on the bed upstairs with the dogs. Thankfully neither Teddy nor Milo are bothered by fireworks. The first time they heard them we made sure not to react at all and we acted as if we hadn't heard anything. They craned their neck to look at us and seeing us not react made them not react. It was actually quite nice to watch movies and see the fireworks from our bedroom windows (there is one advantage to having a glass box for a bedroom!).

Bonus: no hangover the next day!

So tell me Dear Reader, what did you do on NYE? What is your ideal NYE evening?
