A weekend appointment had us discovering a new suburb and a new cafe. Little Alley is a bit of inner city Sydney in the South of Sydney with an on trend menu and wholesome tasty food.
"I've found a little cafe," says Mr NQN excitedly. I've just finished an acupuncture appointment in Narwee and my stomach was grumbling most discontentedly.
That's how we ended up at Little Alley, located well... down a little alley. There are sunny outdoor tables as well as an inside section but the outdoor tables are the pick.
Service is friendly and efficient. They give us some recommendations and we go with those. Drinks are ordered-Mr NQN likes the sound of the deconstructed iced latte while I go for a taro latte which is actually quite delicious.
For the iced latte you pour the milk in a cup and then add the frozen coffee ice cubes. For a man that is super fussy about his coffee (aka a bit of a coffee snob and drinks cold drip only), he likes this very much indeed.
This is the most popular dish on the food menu. There's one large thin slice of toast topped with sauteed mushrooms, spinach, chorizo, halloumi, caramelised onion, two runny centered poached eggs and hollandaise. And you know what? It's absolutely delicious. With just enough of everything you get a bit in every bite. I might be tempted to add avocado next time but I think I'd just be being greedy.
We were uming and aahing about whether to get the green curry chicken burger or the Cajun chicken burger but we go with the latter as that's the more popular one. It's a tender and very flavoursome chicken thigh fillet with chilli mayo, cucumber pickles and rocket on a soft milk bun served with chips on the side. And yep I asked for tomato sauce and aioli on the side because you can never have too much sauce!
So tell me Dear Reader, what condiment do you like to have with fries? And do you like discovering new suburbs or areas?
